A POACHER KILL – Continued Adventures of Sopwith Jones is in the making at last!
This novel reintroduces Sopwith Jones, the protagonist in my previous novel
Fly Away. In his newly acquired persona his days of working as an aeronautical
engineer are over, being replaced with a desire to make his mark as a protector
of good over evil.
Working in conjunction with a private quasi-military style security business
known as Security Without Borders (first introduced in Fly Away), he along with
his wife Alison become part of an anti-poaching operation, mainly concerned
with the protection of rhino. Utilising the solar-powered aircraft
he previously developed they become embroiled in a poaching incident where
a rhino is killed and its horns removed.
Suspects in the case are established, observed and challenged in an attempt to
root out the king pin of the entire operation. Following on fast moving
action and a totally unpredictable journey, a Vietnamese trader is finally
confronted, paying with his life. An important role player, corrupt
Minister Masondo (from Fly Away) is also arrested, but challenges Sopwith yet
again, only to face his demise at the hands of the police in the final chapter.
Although the book is fiction there is reference to real places and recent
events which should appeal to readers who enjoy action stories set in
modern Africa, along with highlighting the blight of continued rhino poaching
on the continent. Zelda Maarten, a character who appears in later books
is introduced in this novel.
